Insurance companies are looking for ways to understand the risk inherent in the
population that they insure. From time to time, they will request additional
information beyond the CMS 1500 form of CPT and ICD-9 data. Some companies that
request this information will pay the provider additional money when they do.
Many times, these forms are cumbersome and difficult to compile. Also, on a busy
day, all the information required may not be documented so the potential revenue
is lost.
